Putovanje maštom – Kolkata (Calcutta)

Pomoću naše mašte možemo posjetiti sve krajeve zemlje i ovim člankom vas vodim u Kolkatu, poznatiju kao Calcutta. Kolkata je glavni grad u saveznoj državi Zapadni Bengal koji je smješten na istoku Indije i ujedno drugi najveći grad Indije. Sam grad smješten je na rijeci Hoogli te u samom gradu ima oko četiri milijuna stanovnika te oko četrnaest milijuna u urbanoj aglomeracijskoj četvrti.

Da bismo predočili život i čar ovog grada moramo se vratiti u prošlost. Kolkata je osnovana u sedamnaestom stoljeću kao britansko trgovačko mjesto i upravo taj grad bio je gospodarsko i političko središte britanskog imperija u Indiji. Međutim, Delhi je postao glavni grad  1911. godine i tako potisnuo Kolkatu.

Kolkata je jedna od najljepših metropola u svijetu i zasluženo nosi taj naziv jer obiluje mnogim raskošnim kolonijalnim građevinama, a natpisi na nadgrobnim spomenicima svjedoče o burnoj kolonijalnoj prošlosti. U samom gradu možete pronaći nespojive stvari koje ipak dobro funkcioniraju, primjerice na cesti možete uočiti kola koja vuče vol dok mu ususret ide autobus na kat.

U Kolkati se svake godine u listopadu održava najvažnije hinduističko slavlje u Zapadnom Bengalu. Na taj događaj okupe se tisuće vjernika i turista. Što se tiče znamenitosti, možete puno toga posjetiti. Moj izbor je Hram posvećen božici Kali koja se štuje kao oličenje zla i ružnoće. Za sve ljubitelje knjiga tu se nalazi Nacionalna biblioteka, muzej Rabindra Bharati i može se posjetiti Centar Marije Terezije koja je mnoge godine provela u Indiji pomažući siromašnima. Za sve ljubitelje sporta, u Kolkati se nalazi Stadion Indijske Mladeži koji može primiti 120 000 gledatelja te je po veličini drugi u svijetu.

Svaki grad, svako mjesto na svijetu ima svoju čar, na vama je da otkrijete koju, prepustite se mašti i upoznajte nova mjesta.
