Oslobođenje Labinštine 28.4.1945.

Drugi svjetski rat kao najveći, najbrutalniji i najpoznatiji rat u povijesti čovječanstva ostao je u sjećanju i obilježio živote brojnih Labinjana. Rat započet u rujnu 1939. zahvatio je područje Labinštine nakon napada Njemačke na Jugoslaviju 6. travnja 1941. godine.

Istra se nakon Prvog svjetskog rata nalazila u sastavu Italije, a u drugom svjetskom ratu Italija je anektirala i Gorski kotar, dio Slovenije te okupirala veliki dio hrvatske obale. Ubrzo nakon izbijanja rata započela je organizacija otpora okupatorskim snagama, u čemu je vodeću ulogu vodila Komunistička partija Jugoslavije. Brojni su Labinjani pristupili Narodnooslobodilačkom pokretu Istre s ciljem oslobađanja od okupatora.

Krajem kolovoza 1942. u Gorskom Kotaru osnovana je Prva istarska partizanska četa »Vladimir Gortan« koja je odmah upućena u Istru. Tijekom rujna 1943. u Istri je započeo opći ustanak, koji zbog svoje masovnosti nije mogao biti pod potpunim nadzorom Narodnooslobodilačkog pokreta. Razoružano je oko 8 600 talijanskih vojnika, a vlast većinom preuzimaju narodnooslobodilački odbori. Pazinskim odlukama 13.rujna 1943. i odlukom ZAVNOH-a proglašeno je sjedinjenje Istre s Hrvatskom.

Samo nekoliko dana ranije, 8. rujna 1943. talijanska je vojska kapitulirala pa je Njemačka, prema prije razrađenom planu u slučaju kapitulacije Italije, poslala Drugu oklopnu armiju u potiskivanje partizanskih snaga. Njemačke su jedinice potkraj rujna došle do Klane, područja sjeverno od Rijeke te time stvorile povoljne uvjete za prodor u Istru. Snage njemačke vojske početkom listopada 1943. porazile su Narodnooslobodilačku vojsku. Slijedećih nekoliko mjeseci njemačke su oklopne SS divizije »Adolf Hitler« i »Hermann Göring« te 44. i 71. pješačka divizija prodirale iz Trsta zapadnom Istrom prema Pazinu i Puli, iz smjera Rijeke na Učku te iz Pule prema Barbanu i Labinu.

Ljeto 1944. bilo je vrlo uspješno za Narodnooslobodilački pokret, jer su tada osvojeni garnizoni Pićan, Gračišće, Šumber, Sveta Nedelja i Istarske Toplice. Njemačke postrojbe počele su zimi 1944./45. primjenjivati taktiku iznenadnih napada, ali bezuspješno. Naime, to je vrijeme kada Njemačka polako gubi na svim svjetskim bojištima, moral vojnika umornih od godina ratovanja opada, dok Narodnooslobodilački pokret raste. Snage Operativnoga štaba za Istru činilo je u srpnju 1944. gotovo 5000 vojnika . U proljeće 1945. u sklopu završnih operacija Narodnooslobodilačke vojske oslobođeni su veći teritoriji na području Istre pa time i Labin 28.travnja 1945.godine.

Zanimljivo je kako je istoga dana talijanski vođa Benito Mussolini, sa svojom ljubavnicom Clarom Petacci, streljan u blizini jezera Como. Tijela su im prebačena u Milano gdje su naglavačke obješeni klavirskom žicom kako bi ih se javno ismijalo. Dva dana kasnije i njemački je vođa Hitler, sa svojom ženom Evom Braun, počinio samoubojstvo. Bili su to zadnji dani Drugoga svjetskoga rata.

U Drugom svjetskom ratu poginulo je 17 tisuća Istrana, od čega 1326 Labinjana, u logore je odvedeno više stotina ljudi te je uništeno više stotina kuća i brojni javni objekti. Svakodnevni život bio je kao i u svakom ratu popraćen glađu, neimaštinom, pljačkom i terorom nad civilnim stanovništvom. Brojne jame na području Labinštine, u koje su bacali streljane ljude najbolje opisuje stupanj terora.

Uz poruku “Ne ponovilo se” ne zaboravljamo borce za oslobođenje od okupatora, a posebnu počast odajemo onima koji su dali svoj život u borbi za slobodu.
