Od kućanice do samouvjerene poslovne žene – Dan žena 8.3.

Od najranije povijesti nepisano je pravilo da je žena stvorena za djecu i dom te da služi muškarcu, dok je muškarac zadužen za uzdržavanje obitelji. Bilo je nepojmljivo da žena radi bilo što osim kuhanja, pranja i čuvanja djece. S jedne je strane bila ugnjetavana, a s druge strane je pak vršila dvostruku dužnost, a to je odgoj djeteta i kao majka i kao otac. Bez obzira što su tijekom povijesti imale razne ideje o tome kako poboljšati svoj položaj u društvu, one su najčešće završavale neuspješno. Kao što se danas može navesti puno primjera gdje se žena bavi muškim poslom, zasigurno  je i kroz povijest bilo žena koje su se zanimale za inače muške poslove zbog čega su  nailazile na oštre kritike i otpor suprotnog spola pa su bile ismijavane i izložene poniženju. U velikom dijelu povijesti žene nisu imale pravo ni birati svoje bračne partnere: roditelji su ih uvjeravali kako ih nitko više neće htjeti ako se ne udaju do svoje petnaeste godine. U 16. su stoljeću pak ,pod utjecajem inkvizicije, bile  optuživane za vještičarenje. S vjerske je strane u nekim državama položaj žena i danas jako težak počevši od pokrivanja cijelog tijela pa do upitne slobode kretanja na ulici.

Razdoblje kraja 19. i početka 20. stoljeća obilježeno  je kao početak prave borbe za ženska prava kada se organiziraju brojne demonstracije i štrajkovi. Tako je jedan od najzapamćenijih dana, koji se i danas obilježava, Dan žena. No, što zapravo stoji iza tog naziva? Naime, dana 08. ožujka 1857. u New Yorku, radnice u tvornici tekstila pokrenule su štrajk kojim su zahtjevale bolje uvjete rada za žene. Na isti dan i na istom mjestu, ali 1908., ponovo je došlo do štrajka. Te su radnice bile zatvorene u tvornici iz koje nisu mogle izaći, a potom je izbio i požar u kojem je izgorilo oko 130 žena. U sjećanje na taj događaj, 1909. je u New Yorku po prvi put obilježen 8. mart. Za prvi službeni Međunarodni dan žena, koji se obilježava od 1910. kada je u Kopenhagenu održana Međunarodna konferencija žena, zaslužne su njemačke aktivistice Clara Zetkin i Luise Zietz. Nakon te godine, žene su podizale brojne demonstracije diljem SAD-a i Europe što je na kraju dovelo do ostvarenja njihova cilja, a to je pravo na glas. Prva zemlja u kojoj su žene dobile pravo glasa je Novi Zeland 1893. godine, dok je Hrvatska to pravo ostvarila tek 1945. Ta se prava možda i ne bi ostvarila da nije bilo sufražetkinja, organiziranih grupa žena koje su se svim snagama borile za ono za čime su toliko dugo vapile. Kada se govori o današnjem stanju položaja žena u državama, treba istaknuti kako neke zemlje još uvijek to zakonski nisu podržale.

U 19. i 20. stoljeću se polako počinje stvarati slika žene kakvu nitko nije mogao zamisliti, a to je slika današnje moderne žene koja je intelektualka, obrazovana, osviještena na svim razinama, zna upravljati financijama i još k tome savršeno usklađuje privatan i poslovan život. Žene su danas u formalno-pravnom smislu izjednačene s muškarcima i one u većem broju država imaju pravo glasa i ostala politička prava. Iako danas govorimo o spolnoj ravnopravnosti još uvijek se žene smatraju slabijim i manje sposobnim spolom. Ostvareno pravo glasa tek je bio malen korak u prihvaćanju žena kao ravnopravnih članova društva, a do potpunog izjednačavanja spolova još će se voditi duga borba. Ženama su bila potrebna desetljeća i desetljeća, čak i stoljeća da naprave samo taj mali korak pri čemu su mnoge dale i vlastite živote, a sve to za ostvarenje jednog naizgled običnog cilja, a to je ostvariti jednake mogućnosti i prava za oba spola, nešto što bi se trebalo podrazumijevati, jer ipak, oboje smo potrebni za opstanak čovječanstva.
